[After the bubble that they'd created, the wake and funeral were harsh reminders of the real world. Noah spent most of the time feeling either judged or ignored. That didn't bother him, but it was harder to watch what it did to Cillian, turning him quiet and tired at night, like his family drained the spirit out of him. It also reminded Noah of the mortality of his own parents. How long before he lost them? Would he have to watch them get frailer and more ill by the day? And would Cillian stay with him, or would it simply be asking too much.]

[There wasn't even time to properly reconnect when they returned, because there were lives and jobs to catch up on. Noah works later hours to catch up on his missed appointments. Cillian still sounds tired on the phone.]

[It's nearly a week later when things start looking up again, though Noah doesn't give too much away in his text.]
